    SOA is supposed to enable authorized users to reuse services without having to know where they reside, what language they were built with, or which protocol should be used to request them. These technical details should be transparent to the user. But most services are built by various
    IT departments and hosted in different platform ecosystems such as Java EE, C/C++, .NET, and legacy mainframe.

    Each of these ecosystems has unique deployment infrastructures, management
    and monitoring features, and mechanisms for transactions and security. The complexity in enterprise-scale SOA implementations stems from the need to manage hundreds or even thousands of services across these platforms.
