Email communication at Southend-on-Sea has doubled each year since 2008, with current daily traffic of around 22,000 emails. This has put significant pressure on the borough council's infrastructure and its I.T team. Discover how this project has worked for all users, with over 90% of all communications now occurring via email and only 2% of inbound helpdesk calls cross referencing email.
This case study explores the following:
•Even with the year-on-year doubling of emails, the size of the mailbox store has been reduced by more than 60%
•How Southend-on-Sea immediately took control of discovering thousands of PST files after the installation
•Emails larger than 2MB in size or older than 10 days are automatically siphoned to the archive each day
•Archiving is now automatic for those users who run a mailbox greater than 40% full
•Positive user reaction as the onus on mailbox management has been taken out of their hands.
