Colour printers are rapidly replacing their black and white equivalents, with colour printing rising 14% year on year in an otherwise flat market.
The real issue is that the centralised colour machines employed by many organisations are over-specified and over-complex laser printers and copiers. 64% of survey respondents said that they need some high-quality colour print output but for the majority of jobs it just isn't important. Only 9% said that high-quality colour print is an absolute requirement.
Budgets should be rationalised to include both the purchase price and the running costs of the printer or copier. In this way firms will be able to make more informed decisions about the contracts they sign.
By taking control over their printers in this way, companies could save substantially on running costs, reduce waste, deal with downtime and create a much more logical and accountable system for their printers and copiers.
