Overview

Data migration projects can pose significant challenges for project leaders. As a discipline, data migration is still in its relative infancy. There is a noticeable lack of industry associations, formal education and published best practices compared to similar disciplines such as data warehousing, data quality and data integration. There are many pitfalls awaiting the poorly skilled and inexperienced project leader and as a result far more data migration projects fail than succeed.
