Geographic and location data is becoming more important as workforces and consumers become more mobile. Geographic information is also more available now, with more people staying connected via smartphones, tablets and laptops through cellular and wireless services. This exclusive CRN survey shows that ISVs, VARs and developers sense that there is a burgeoning opportunity to make use of geographic data to create and deliver applications and services that will enable more informed, accurate and responsive decision-making.
But awareness of what geographic and location data is available and how it can be applied is relatively low. Resellers seem to be attempting to offer a wide range of solutions in a broad spectrum of markets, but relatively few are offering mapping or location-based solutions. Businesses that invest early to gain the appropriate levels of knowledge and develop useful and effective geographic and location-based applications and services are likely gain a significant advantage and potentially open valuable new revenue streams.
