Aberdeen's analysis confirms the prevailing wisdom that endpoint security based on anti-virus software alone is not enough, particularly given the technology mega-trends that are dramatically transforming our IT infrastructure, and the corresponding changes in the security threat landscape
Further to this, the report concludes that anti-virus solutions such as Microsoft's Forefront Endpoint Protection may mislead some organisations to make an erroneous conclusion - i.e., that "free A/V" is "good enough for me" however it is shown that not investing in additional endpoint security solutions is a false economy - in reality, the anti-virus-only.
