Organisations ignore the cost of colour printing and copying at their peril. Despite its less than sexy image, colour printing is often mission-critical to firms and few could last more than a day or two without it.
The lack of transparency around printing contracts can make them poor value for money for the unwary or careless. Even relatively benign contracts can turn out more expensive than expected if the customer does not think through printing requirements, where printing volumes are unknown and where cost-allocation is split across different departments making the true cost opaque.
Changes to the printing equipment, requirements and the organisation itself should all be borne in mind as to the impact they have on the contract.
