What is needed is for the IT department to assume a more proactive role in identifying these technologies and bring them to the notice of risk managers and business heads, who typically control the budgets but whose IT knowledge is typically rudimentary. A more collaborative approach, with an IT department that is seen as a driver rather than a mere enabler of progress, will allow banks to achieve best practices in risk management.
