Computing conducted a survey of data centre professionals to identify both the perceived risks and the actual problems that have caused downtime and/or data loss.
Often the real disasters which can affect your business are far different to the normal threats such as a flood or fire.
"A cleaner disconnected a server in order to plug in a vacuum cleaner"
"Bees decided to nest in the power supply of a critical server"
"Squirrels chewing through important cables or blocking cooling vents"
The survey also sought to identify the consequences of such issues, the lessons learned and the measures taken to protect against them happening again.
This white paper also looks at how recent trends in storage and cloud-based services might make those tasks easier and at what is happening on the ground with regard to these recent developments in the disaster recovery sphere.
