An exclusive survey by Computing finds that over 40 percent of the UK's IT strategists accept that their data is unreliable and may not meet their business needs. Staggeringly, the same percentage have not taken steps to clean and correct core data when errors have been found.
These and other findings suggest that a significant number of the UK's Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are not living up to their job titles and instead are being controlled by inaccurate data, lacking the will or the business support to tackle the problem at source. Dealing with core data errors while they are small and manageable is far better than trying to repair the damage after the problem has been allowed to escalate out of control
